February 10th 2012 Japanese artist Chiuyky Itoga asked me, Ed Hanssen, to help her start up an artproject to encourage the peoples of Fukushima, who have suffered from nuclear pollution. Not just Fukushima but also Miyate and other prefecture as well.

PROJECT CLOSED FOR ENTRIES.

Because of cultural differences the project asked for FIGURATIVE ARTS.
Chiyuky called for artists to make artwork(s) sized 15x15 cm. They had to be vinyl bagged!!
No limitation to material, as long as it wasn't not too thick. Digital arts, paint, drawing, stitching, photography,... you name it. BUT: it must be hand to hand, meaning sending it by post(also the digital art!!!!!!)
Chiyuky will display the received artworks and hoped to generate donations to give to the peoples of Fukushima.

Chiyuky was inspired not only by PROJECT WHAT'S IN A CELL, but also by this artwork :
It's by Makoto Wada, a famous illustrator in Japan. She was impressed by it, because of the real feeling of Fukushima mothers.

Welcome to join the project.
March 11, 2011, a big earthquake and Tsunami hit Japan as you know.
Miyagi, Iwate, Fukushima 3 provices were hugely damaged, espacialy by the tsunami.
Re-establishment has not done as our exspection, many escaped people live in tentative house, and are still not back to their house.

This project is for Fukushima resitents people, I think.
Somebodys have been ordered to escape from their house by government.
Somebodys have lived separated familiy, because to remove their children from radioactive pollution.
Somebodys have lived in Fukushima, but, actualy they want to leave there even though fear about radioactive pollution.

I have no word to tell them.
I live in Tokyo, maybe safer than Fukushima, maybe.
I'm just artist, impossible to stop radioactive, to donate big money, to clean up there.
I don't have no power.
I just do it, make them smile and heart warming by your art.
The world cares about them, I want to tell them.
It's purpose of the project.
So. I would like to ask you keep away political, sexual, ideological, image, and anti-nuclear appearant.
They are in a kind of nervous, because many information of many thinking people in Japan.
I want to encourage them.
